Since I am a second year students in the Automotive Marketing program at Georgian College I thought it would be a good idea to give the new incoming students some tips that might be helpful for your first few weeks at school!
- Search for your books online using sites like Kijiji or Amazon because they tend to be less costly than they are at the book store on campus
- Be open to the whole auto show experience - get out there and participate in all activities because it's a great way to make friends and network within the industry
- Trying to study at the library in the middle of the afternoon is tough because it is very noisy - try going up to the third floor in building K where there is plenty of seating and it's a quiet place
- It's cheaper to rent a room in a house than it is to live on residence!
- Don't ever be afraid to ask questions in class - the teacher will tell you that there are no stupid questions
- Get to know all faculty that you get involved with at school - creating bonds with teachers, advisors, and counselors will help you get recommendations and it will be helpful for networking in the future
- If you have any issues with academics or personal problems you should visit B110 and see a counselor. They are extremely helpful and completely confidential
- Go to class! Teachers seem to like putting things on tests that they only discuss in class and aren't in the textbook
These are just a couple of tips for students, please comment if you have any other ones! Hope these are helpful!
